Running an export business out of Baroda keeps us pretty busy most days. We are Encircle Exports India Pvt Ltd, and we spend a lot of our time on the phone or checking emails about shipments. Our office isn't anything special to look at, just a place where we keep our files and track what’s going where. Baroda is a good place for this kind of work because of the connections to other cities. We started out small and stayed that way because we like knowing exactly what's happening with every order. Sometimes things get delayed at the port or there’s a paperwork mix-up, and that’s when it gets stressful. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It's mostly just us making sure the products get packed right and sent off on time. The coffee machine in the corner is probably the most used thing in the room. We deal with a lot of different suppliers around Gujarat. Some days are slow, just waiting for news, and other days everyone is running around trying to meet a deadline. We don't really do the corporate thing with meetings every hour. We just talk across the room when something needs doing. It’s a straightforward way of working. We’ve been here in the city for years and know our way around the local trade circles pretty well by now. We usually close up around six, unless there's a late call from a different time zone. It’s a decent life.
