Central Technical Center

Central Technical Center is tucked away inside Tulsibag Society in Manjalpur, Baroda. Specifically, we are at number 9. It’s actually a residential area, so it’s quite different from being in a big commercial building. We have neighbors who are just living their lives, drying clothes on their balconies and washing their cars while we are inside teaching. The house has been converted to fit our classrooms and workshops. We have some benches and stools for the students and a lot of tools and mechanical parts lying around. It gets really hot in Baroda during the summer months, so we have these big ceiling fans that spin all day long, making a constant clicking noise that we’ve all grown used to. Most of the people who come here are looking to learn a trade or get some technical skills so they can work in the factories around Gujarat. We don't have a big sign or any fancy marketing stuff at the entrance. People usually find us because someone they know told them we do a decent job of teaching practical things. It’s a very local vibe here. We often sit out on the porch during breaks to get some air and talk. The address is 390011, right in the heart of the community. We just keep the doors open for anyone who wants to learn something practical. It’s not a fancy school, just a place where you can get your hands dirty and learn a skill.
