Ambika Fabrication Works

Our spot is Shop No 16 in the Vaikunth Complex which is part of that whole cluster with Mahesh Complex and the Crystal School nearby. We are right on the Asoj Bajwada Main Road in Fatepura. It is a very crowded intersection especially near Parivar Char Rasta. Ambika Fabrication Works is always loud because of the cutting and the grinding of metal. We make iron gates, window safety grills, and sometimes frames for small sheds. There are sparks flying everywhere when the welding starts so we have to be careful where we stand. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings and small scraps of iron that we sweep up at the end of the day. It is a messy business but someone has to build these things. We have some heavy machinery that takes up most of the space in the shop. People come in with their measurements on scraps of paper and we try to get the pieces to fit just right. The road outside is usually blocked with rickshaws and bikes making it hard to move the finished gates out to the trucks. We’ve been in this complex for a while so the other shopkeepers know us by the sound of our hammers. It is hot work especially when the sun is beating down on the road. We just keep our heads down and finish the welding. Sometimes the noise is so much that we can't hear the customers talking.
