Xpert Dance Academy

We are over in Bhupalpura, running this dance academy. It is a lively spot, mostly because of the music that starts up every afternoon. The neighborhood is used to the sound by now. When you walk in, you’ll see the wooden floors and the big mirrors we put up. They aren't perfect, and they get smudged with fingerprints from the kids all the time. Xpert Dance Academy is a place where we just teach people how to move. We don’t have a big fancy lobby. Most parents just wait on the benches outside or stand near the door. It gets quite hot in the summer, so the ceiling fans are always on full speed. You can smell the floor wax and sometimes the snacks someone brought for later. We spend a lot of time counting out beats and showing the same steps over and over. It’s honest work. The local kids from Bhupalpura come here after school, and we also have some adults who want to learn. We don't use any high-tech gadgets to teach. It’s just us, the music, and the space. Sometimes the lights flicker when the weather is bad, but we keep going. It’s a simple building and a simple goal. People know where we are because of the shoes piled up at the entrance. That’s how we like it. It’s a busy, noisy, and happy place to be most days of the week. We just keep the music playing.
