The road to Shobhagpura has changed a lot lately with all the new shops, but Rishika Artz School is still sitting right there on Anushree Vatika Road. We are at number 73-A, which is a spot that is easy enough to get to once you turn off the main stretch. It is a place where things are often a little messy because of all the supplies we use. You will find stacks of paper, jars of water, and bits of charcoal lying around the work areas. The floors usually have a few spots of paint that won't come off, no matter how much we scrub. It is a working space more than anything else. The students come in at different times, and there is usually some music playing softly in the background to keep things relaxed. We have large windows that let in the Udaipur sun, which is helpful for seeing the colors correctly. The building is surrounded by other houses, so we try to keep the noise down in the evenings. It is not a big corporate institution; it feels more like a large workshop where people just sit and focus on what they are making. Sometimes the neighbors bring in their kids to see what is being painted that week. We keep the art supplies in old wooden cupboards that lean a bit to one side. It is a very relaxed atmosphere where we just worry about the next project on the table.
