The Rich Step Dance Academy

Our academy is located at number 9 Chandanwadi Road, right near University Road in New Ashok Vihar. It’s a decent-sized space that we’ve tried to make work for dancing. The floor is the most important part, so we spend a lot of time sweeping it and making sure there aren't any rough spots that might trip someone up. We have some large mirrors along one wall that we had to get installed last year. They aren't perfect, but they do the job. The noise from the music can get pretty loud, so I’m sure the neighbors on Chandanwadi Road know exactly when we are working. We don't have a fancy sound system, just some big speakers hooked up to an old laptop. There is a small corner where people can leave their bags and shoes, and it usually ends up being a bit of a mess by the end of the day. The building itself is tucked away a little bit, so you have to keep an eye out for the number 9 sign. We don't have a lot of staff, just a few of us who handle the music and the cleaning. It’s a bit of a sweaty place, especially in the summer months when the fans can only do so much. We don't have any flashy lights or a stage, just an open floor and a lot of energy. Most of the time we are just focused on getting the steps right.
