Out here in Salumber, things move a bit slower than in the big cities, and that is how we like it at Vijay Battery Works. Our shop is a place where there is always a bit of grease on the floor and the smell of lead and acid in the air. It’s not a glamorous job, but it is necessary for the tractors and trucks that run through this town. We spend our days checking levels, charging up old units, and helping people get their vehicles started again. The sunlight comes in through the front door and hits the dust on the shelves. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know how to handle these heavy things without hurting our backs. Most of our customers are folks from the surrounding villages who have been coming to us for years. They sit on the wooden bench outside while we finish the work, talking about the crops or the weather. We don't have a website or any of that fancy stuff; we just have our tools and our hands. The building itself is simple, just a sturdy room that holds everything we need. Sometimes we stay late if a farmer needs his battery back for the next morning. It’s just honest work in a small town, and we are happy to be the ones doing it. There is always a stray cat hanging around the back door waiting for a scrap.
