Our business is situated right near the Gogunda Chauraha, close to the toll plaza on National Highway-27. It is in the Village of Chali, which is part of the Udaipur district. Being so close to the highway means we get a lot of people passing through who are just looking for supplies while on their way somewhere else. We handle a variety of trade items. The shop is a simple structure, built to handle the wind and dust that comes off the road. It can get pretty loud with the trucks accelerating away from the toll booth. Inside, we have shelves packed with whatever is in demand at the moment. It’s a practical setup. We don't have air conditioning or fancy lights. We just use the natural light from the front door and a few bulbs when it gets dark. Usually, it’s just a couple of us here, managing the inventory and talking to customers. Some days are very slow, especially when the weather is bad, and we just sit and watch the cars go by. Other days, we are running around trying to help three different people at once. We’ve been at this spot for a while, so the locals from Chali village know us well. We don't have any big speeches about what we do. We just sell what we have and try to be helpful to anyone who stops their vehicle outside. It's a humble life by the road, but it suits us well enough.
