Kasturi

You can find Kasturi over in the Gangotri building at Surajpole, right across the street from Ashoka Cinema. It’s a very old part of the city and you can feel it in the air. We’ve been running this place for a long time, and not much has changed inside. We sell a bit of everything, mostly stuff people in the neighborhood need. The traffic near the cinema can be a nightmare in the evenings when a new movie starts, but it brings people past our windows. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the name Kasturi on the front. Inside, it’s a bit cluttered with boxes and old ledgers. We still do most of our accounts by hand because that’s how we’ve always done it. It’s a small operation, just me and my nephew most days. We know most of our customers by their first names. We aren't interested in expanding or opening more branches; we like it just fine here in Surajpole. The roof leaks a bit when it rains hard, so we have to move the stock around, but we’re used to it. It’s a simple business and we like the slow pace of it. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to borrow a tool or have a chat. We don't have any big corporate goals or anything like that. We just want to keep the shop open and serve the people who live around here every single day.
