You can find Oriental Palace Resorts on the Main Road in Subhash Nagar. Being in Udaipur City, we get a lot of people passing through. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the different sections. We have a lot of greenery, which takes a lot of work to maintain in the Udaipur heat. The staff starts early, sweeping the walkways and checking the pool. It’s not one of those brand-new modern resorts; it has more of an older, traditional look. The furniture is heavy and the rooms are big. We get a mix of families and people here for work. The traffic on the Main Road can be a bit much during peak hours, but once you get behind the main walls, you don’t notice it as much. We spend a lot of time managing the kitchen and the guest requests. There isn't a fancy philosophy here, just a lot of cleaning and making sure the beds are made. Some of the trees in the garden have been here longer than the building itself. We have a small parking area that gets tight when we have a function. Most of us have worked here for years and we know the shortcuts through Subhash Nagar. It’s a regular job for us, keeping the place running and greeting people when they arrive. Sometimes the monkeys come into the trees, which keeps things interesting.
