Devi Garh

Devi Garh is out in the village of Delwara, which is part of the Nathdwara area in Rajsamand. It’s a bit of a drive to get here, tucked away in the hills. The post box is 144, but everyone around here knows where the gates are. It’s a large old property that has a lot of history behind it. We spend a lot of our time just maintaining the place because old stones need a lot of looking after. The staff comes from the local villages nearby. Some walk to work, others come on bikes. It’s a quiet life out here compared to the big cities. We don't have a lot of noise except for the birds and the occasional tractor passing by on the road. The rooms are large and sometimes the hallways feel like a bit of a maze if you aren't used to them. We don't have a big marketing team writing things for us. This is just a place where we work and look after the guests who find their way to Delwara. Sometimes things break and we fix them. That’s just how it goes with a place like this. It’s not a plastic, modern hotel. It’s got thick walls and a lot of character that you can only get with time. We just keep the lights on and the doors open for visitors. It takes a lot of effort to keep such a big place running smoothly.
