Bhandari Sarees

We have been running Bhandari Sarees here at 16, Bhamashah Marg for quite some time now. Sindhi Bazar is always a busy place, and our shop is right in the thick of it. Most days start with us sweeping the front and dusting the shelves because the street outside gets quite dusty with all the traffic. We keep a lot of different sarees, from simple cotton ones for daily wear to some heavier stuff for weddings. It’s not a fancy place with big air conditioners or anything, just a regular shop where you can sit down on the floor cushions and look at fabrics. Sometimes the lights go out in the afternoon, but we just keep the door open for the breeze. People around here know us well. They drop in just to say hello or ask for directions while they’re out shopping for groceries. We don't really do much advertising. Most of our customers come because their mothers or aunts used to shop here. It gets a bit cramped when three or four families come in at once, but we manage. My son helps out sometimes when he’s not at college, and we just try to keep things organized. The shelves are packed right up to the ceiling because we hate saying no when someone asks for a specific color. It’s a lot of folding and unfolding all day long, but that’s just how the business goes. We’re usually here from morning until late evening, just taking things as they come.
