Barathi Nursery Primary School

Our school is located on Eramalu Salai in Nallur. It’s a quiet part of Tiruvannamalai, which is nice for a primary school. We focus on the younger kids, from nursery age up through the primary years. The building is a simple one-story structure with a small yard out front. We’ve been here for quite some time, and many of the parents went to school here themselves back in the day. The classrooms are basic, with wooden benches and plenty of charts on the walls to help with numbers and letters. We don't have a lot of modern technology, but we have plenty of books and a lot of energy. Each morning starts with a small prayer and some stretching. After that, it’s mostly just lessons in Tamil and English. The kids get a bit restless by midday, so we let them out to play in the dirt for a while. We have a few trees that give some shade, which helps when it's hot. The teachers are mostly women from the surrounding village. They know how to handle the kids when they get cranky. We keep the gate locked during the day for safety, but parents know they can knock if they need something. It’s just a small, local school doing what it’s always done. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just about teaching the basics and keeping everyone safe.
