Marks Engineering Works

Out here in Govindanur, things stay pretty steady at Marks Engineering Works. We are based in the Puravipalayam Post area, which is part of Pollachi in the Coimbatore district. It's a bit of a drive to get out here, but we like having the extra space for our equipment. The shop floor is usually noisy because we have machines running most of the day. There is grease on almost everything, and the air always smells like cut metal and machine oil. We have been in this part of Tamilnadu for a long time now. My hands are usually dirty by ten in the morning, but that's just part of the job. We do a lot of repairs and custom bits for the local folks and farmers around here. It is not a giant factory with hundreds of workers, just a solid, small place where we get the job done right. Sometimes the heat in Coimbatore gets to be a bit much in the afternoons, so we take our breaks under the big neem tree out front. We have some old lathes and drills that still work better than the new ones we tried. Everyone in the village knows where the shop is. We don't have a website or anyone to do marketing for us. If someone needs something fixed or a part made, they just pull up to the shop and talk to us directly. It’s honest, hard work and we enjoy it.
