Dave Granites

Our yard is at Plot No. 12 in Maharaja Nagar. It is right opposite the Ulazhavar Santhai, so we see a lot of people coming and going from the market every day. Dave Granites is a bit of a crowded spot because we try to keep as much stone on the lot as possible. The sun beats down on the granite slabs all day, making them hot to the touch. We spend most of our time walking between the rows of stone, showing people what we have in stock. It is not a very quiet place with the market traffic across the street and the sound of slabs being moved. We have a small desk where we keep the ledger, but most of the real work happens outside. Sometimes we have to move twenty pieces of stone just to get to the one at the back, which takes a lot of time and effort. Our hands are usually rough from handling the edges of the granite. We do not have any big corporate goals or anything like that. We just want to clear the yard of the old stock so we can bring in the new pieces. It is a straightforward business and we have been in this part of town long enough that everyone knows where we are. We just take each day as it comes, dealing with the weather and the heavy lifting as part of the routine.
