Trichy Marbles

You can find Trichy Marbles on 5th Street in Srinivasa Nagar, which is over in the T V Koil area. Our shop is at number 15. It’s a residential-feeling neighborhood, but we’ve got our stone yard right here. Most of the people who live around here know us because they see the trucks coming in and out. It can be a bit tight on the street when a big delivery arrives, but we try to get it sorted as fast as we can. Inside, it’s just rows of marble and some granite. We don't have any bright displays or sales people in suits. Usually, it's just one of us in a dusty shirt ready to help. We spend a lot of time measuring slabs and marking them with chalk. It’s a messy business, but someone has to do it. The stone comes from different places and each piece looks a bit different. We like showing those differences to the people who stop by. Some want something plain, others want something with a lot of veins. We just pull out what we have and let them look. It’s a straightforward way to work. We’ve been on this street for a while and we’ve seen a lot of houses in the area get built using our materials. It’s a good feeling, in a quiet sort of way. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
