You can find Sumathi Sree at 42, Kadai Veethi. We’re right near the petrol bunk, so there’s always cars and bikes zooming past. The shop is small and sits right on the edge of the road. We sell a variety of things, mostly items for the home and some clothes too. It’s a bit of a mix, whatever we think the people around here might need. The shelves are wooden and a bit rickety in some spots. We’ve got hooks on the ceiling to hang things up because we ran out of floor space a long time ago. It can get pretty hot inside during the afternoon, even with the small fan we have going. We spend our time dusting the items and talking to the people who stop by after filling up their tanks. It’s not a fancy place with air conditioning or glass doors. The front is open to the street. Sometimes the wind blows leaves inside, and we have to sweep them out. We keep our prices written on small stickers that sometimes fall off. It’s just me and a family member running the place most days. We close up for a bit in the middle of the day for lunch. It’s a quiet existence, watching the traffic go by on Kadai Veethi. We don’t have a big sign, just the name painted above the door. If you live around here, you probably know where we are.
