Annamalaiyar Power Bricks

We've been operating out of Poigaikudi Colony for a while now. It's a busy spot in Thuvakkudi and we stay pretty occupied with the brickmaking. People know where 288/1 is if they need to pick something up for a project. It isn't a fancy setup here, just a yard where we get the work done. The machines can be loud but that’s how it goes when you’re making power bricks all day long. Most of us living nearby work here, so we start early when the sun isn't too hot yet. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to dry the bricks properly, so we have to watch the clouds constantly. If it rains, everything slows down quite a bit. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting and stacking until the day is over. We try to keep things organized but a brickyard is always going to have some dust and dirt around. Neighbors drop by sometimes just to see how the stock is looking or to chat for a minute. We don't have a big office or anything polished like that. Just the site and the bricks we produce. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on for our families. If someone needs a load for a wall or a small shed, they just come down and talk to us. We’ve seen a lot of houses go up in the area using what we make right here. It’s a simple business, nothing more than that.
