Site Engineer

Our place, Site Engineer, is located at Jinu Bhavan, near Arappura Jn in Vattiyoorkavu. Being based here in Trivandrum means we deal with a lot of rain and some very hilly terrain. It makes the engineering part of the job quite a challenge sometimes. I spend most of my time out in the humidity, checking on foundations and making sure the drainage is handled right. You can't cut corners here, or the monsoon will let you know about it pretty quickly. I’m not much for fancy talk or trying to sell people on big dreams. I just look at the site, look at the plans, and tell the owner what needs to happen to make the building sturdy. My office at home is cluttered with site notes and measuring tapes. It’s a local business, so I know many of the people I work for. That adds a bit of pressure to get everything exactly right, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It is a lot of walking, a lot of sweating, and a lot of making sure the bricklayers are following the lines. I enjoy the practical side of things, like seeing the concrete set or the roof go on. It’s about building things that last in our community, one project at a time. We stay busy with the local projects and don't really bother with much else.
