Ikkadu Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group is based over on Bajanai Kovil Street, right near the Nathambedu Road. If you know Thaneerkulam, you know it's mostly farming land around here. Ikkadu Farmers Producer Company Limited is basically just a bunch of us locals who decided to team up. We were tired of the usual struggles of farming on our own. It's a lot easier to buy fertilizer and seeds when you're doing it for a hundred people instead of just one. We've got our little spot at number 339/1. It’s a plain building, nothing special, but it serves its purpose. We spend a lot of time discussing the rains and what the market is doing. Some days it’s about fixing a tractor or figuring out why a certain crop isn't doing well. We don't have fancy titles or big offices. Most of the time, our boots are still muddy from the fields when we meet up. It’s hard to keep everything running smooth when prices fluctuate, but having this collective helps a bit. We focus on the things we grow right here in our soil. We’ve known each other for years, growing up in the same villages and working the same land. It felt right to officially join together. We just try to get a decent price for what we grow and make sure our families are taken care of. That's the main thing for us.
