Rathinasabhai Collective Farming Farmers

Rathinasabhai Collective Farming Farmers is situated in Kaliyanoor Village. Our door number is 4-96 and we are under the Vidaiyur post in Tiruvallur. This is a real rural area and most of us have lived here our whole lives. We started this collective because we saw that working alone was getting harder every year. By joining together, we can share the costs of the tractors and the labor. It is a very simple arrangement based on trust and hard work. We grow things like rice and vegetables depending on what the water situation is like. The office is just a small place in the village where we gather. It doesn't have any air conditioning or fancy furniture. We just have some benches and a place to keep our farm journals. Most of the time we are out on the land anyway. You can see us working from early morning until the sun goes down. We don't have any marketing people or anyone to write fancy stuff for us. We are just farmers who know the land. We help each other out when the harvest is ready because it is too much work for one family. It is a slow way of life but it is what we know. We just want to keep our village farming going and make sure the land stays productive for our kids. We don't expect things to be easy, we just keep working.
