Vetfa Agro Organics Private Limited is over at No 34/45 B Gng 2Nd Street in Varadarajapuram, Ambattur. It’s a bit of an industrial neighborhood, but we’ve made our home here for some time now. The office is small and usually filled with the smell of whatever produce is coming through that week. We don't have a big staff, just a handful of us who manage the day-to-day operations. It’s mostly about connecting the organic farms with the people who need their products. We spend a lot of time on our mobile phones and writing things down in old ledgers. Ambattur can get quite loud with the traffic, so we usually keep the windows shut to get any work done. We aren't a polished company with a bunch of marketing people in suits. We’re just trying to run a business that makes sense for the farmers. Sometimes the deliveries are late because of the city traffic, and we just have to deal with it as best as we can. We focus on the practical side of things, like checking the quality of the grains or making sure the storage stays dry during the monsoon. It’s a lot of physical work too, moving bags and crates around when they arrive from the countryside. We’ve been here for a bit now and the locals know us. We aren't looking to expand into some giant empire; we just want to do this one thing well. It’s an honest way to live and work.
