St.Joseph'S Primary School

St. Joseph'S Primary School is located in Sanjaya Nagar, which is part of Sukkiranpatti in Thanjavur. It’s a quiet area for the most part, though the school run in the morning changes that for an hour or so. We’ve got a basic gate and a small playground area where the kids play during their breaks. The building is painted a simple color and has been there for quite a while now. Inside, the classrooms have rows of wooden benches that have seen many years of use. You can see the names of former students scratched into some of them if you look closely. The teachers have a small room where we keep all the lesson plans and the attendance books. It’s quite traditional here. We use chalkboards, so there is always a bit of white dust on the floor and on our clothes by the end of the day. Thanjavur can get very hot, so we rely on the trees around the building to provide some shade. The walk from the main part of Sukkiranpatti isn't too long, so many kids walk or come on their bicycles. We don't have a big budget for fancy equipment, but we make do with what we have. It’s a community school where most of the parents know each other from the neighborhood. We just focus on the daily lessons and getting through the school year. It’s a simple life for us here in Sanjaya Nagar.
