Suresh Mechnical Works

If you head down to Masoli Bazar, you will find us at 5 F. It is a real workshop area, so there is always the sound of metal hitting metal and the smell of grease and oil in the air. Suresh started this place a long time ago, and it’s a real hands-on kind of environment for everyone who works here. We have tools scattered across the benches and heavy machinery that takes up most of the floor space in the shop. It’s not the kind of place where you want to wear your nice clothes because you are definitely going to get a stain on them before lunch. The light in the bazar is a bit dim sometimes, especially when the clouds come over during the monsoon, so we have these big hanging bulbs so we can see what we are doing. We work on all sorts of mechanical parts, taking things apart and putting them back together again until they finally work right. It’s a lot of physical labor and our hands are usually black with grease by midday. The neighbors are mostly other workshops and small traders, so we all know each other well and lend tools back and forth when someone is in a pinch. There is a small tea stall just a few steps away where we go when we need a break from the noise. It is a busy, dirty, and honest way to spend the day. You just walk in and talk to whoever is holding the wrench.
