Radhey Krishna Metals

Radhey Krishna Metals is located down on the Mumbra-Panvel Road, specifically in Gala B-17 at the Super Market area near Uttarshiv. It’s not a supermarket like where you buy groceries, it’s more of a cluster of industrial sheds and shops. We handle a lot of metal here, mostly scraps and different types of hardware. The floor is usually covered in bits of steel or aluminum, and the sound of heavy things moving around is pretty constant. We spend most of our time weighing materials and loading up trucks that head out to factories. It’s heavy work and your hands get dirty within five minutes of starting the day. We’ve been at this spot for a while now, and we know most of the guys in the neighboring units. There’s no air conditioning, so we keep the big shutters open to get whatever breeze comes off the road. When the monsoon hits, the noise on the tin roof is so loud you can’t hear yourself think. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy lobby; you just walk in and talk to whoever is standing near the scale. We keep a ledger of everything that comes in and out. It’s a simple business run by people who aren't afraid of a bit of hard labor. We just get on with it every morning and hope for a productive day.
