Poonam General Store

We are located in the Rai Compound in the Janupada area of Thakur Village. Kandivali East is a very crowded part of Mumbai and there are people everywhere. Our shop is tucked away in the compound and we sell all sorts of general items that families need. We have things like packets of biscuits and snacks and tea leaves. The space we have is quite small so we have to be very careful about how we stack the boxes. Usually they go all the way to the ceiling. It can be hard to find things sometimes if we are not organized. We have lived in this area for a long time so we know the community well. People stop by on their way to work or when they are coming back home in the evening. It is a noisy place because of all the traffic and the people living so close together. We don't have any employees just the family members helping out when they can. The shop has been here for years and the sign outside is starting to fade a bit from the sun and the rain. We don't mind. As long as we have the stock people need they will keep coming. It is a humble business and we don't try to be anything else. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the first customer. That is how our life goes here in Janupada.
