M R Engineering Works

Over here in Kandivali East, specifically at D 2, is where M R Engineering Works is located. Mumbai is a crowded city and our shop is no exception. We make the most of the space we have. There’s always the sound of metal hitting metal and the smell of welding in the air. It’s a tough job and the heat in the workshop can get pretty bad during the summer months. I spend most of my day standing at the workbench. My hands are always stained with something, but that’s what happens when you work for a living. We don't have any big corporate goals or anything like that. We just want to finish the orders on time so we can get paid and go home to our families. Some of the equipment we use is quite old, but it still works fine if you know how to treat it. Customers come by with all sorts of requests. Some are easy and some take a lot of thinking. We don't have a receptionist, so you just walk in and talk to whoever isn't busy. It’s a straightforward way of doing things. The building we’re in has seen better days, but it’s sturdy enough. We’ve been in Kandivali East for a while and we’ve seen the area grow up around us. It’s home for the business and we don’t plan on moving anywhere else because we like being part of the local community.
