Kusum Engineering Works

We are tucked away in Paras Compound, right on S.V. Road in Goregaon West. If you’ve been to this part of Mumbai, you know how hectic S.V. Road gets. Our workshop is in a compound with a few other businesses. It’s noisy. There’s always the sound of metal being worked on or machines running. We do a lot of engineering repairs and small-scale fabrication. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings and oil. We don't have a fancy reception area. If you come to see us, you’ll probably find us in greasy overalls. We’ve been here for a long time. The building is old and the walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but it doesn't affect the work. We use lathes and milling machines that have been with us for years. They are sturdy. We don't have a big marketing plan. Most people find us because their father used to bring work here. We drink cutting chai from the stall just outside the compound gate. The monsoon is always a bit of a struggle because the roof leaks in one corner, so we have to move the machines around. It's just a regular engineering shop. We work hard, we fix things, and we go home to our families in the evening. Kusum Engineering is just a small part of the big Goregaon landscape. We hope the traffic gets better one day.
