You can find us at Shop No 1 on Veera Desai Road in Jogeshwari West. We are pretty close to the Country Club and the Adajan Road turnoff. This is a typical neighborhood grocery store where we keep a bit of everything on the shelves. We have big sacks of rice and lentils sitting on the floor and rows of biscuits and soaps stacked up behind the counter. The morning rush is usually the busiest time when everyone realizes they ran out of milk or sugar. I’ve been working here for years and I know exactly where every single item is kept, even if the shelves look a bit cluttered to anyone else. We don’t have those fancy scanners, so we mostly just count things up and tell you the total. Sometimes the neighborhood kids come in just to buy a single piece of chocolate or a small bag of chips. The street outside is always humming with activity, especially in the evenings when people are heading home from the station. We keep the doors open late most nights because there is always someone who forgot to buy salt for dinner. It’s a simple life running a kirana shop. We don’t do home delivery with apps or anything, but if you live right upstairs, we might carry the heavy bags up for you. It’s just about being part of the local street and helping everyone get their daily supplies without much fuss.
