Epicerie

We've been here at Shop No 18 in the APMC Market for a while now. Most people know us because we're right near Chitra. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when the trucks come in. We started Epicerie because there seemed to be a need for a place that just has the basics without making things complicated. If you walk past the main stalls, you'll see us there. It's not a huge place, just a regular shop where we try to keep the shelves stocked with what people actually use in their kitchens. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded with crates on the floor, but that's just how market life is. We know a lot of the regulars by name by now. It’s mostly about getting the inventory right and making sure the bags are packed well so they don’t break on the way home. We spend a lot of time checking the dates on things and talking to the suppliers who drop stuff off at the back. It’s loud out there with all the shouting and the horns, but inside it’s just us doing the daily work. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. It is just a shop in the market. If someone needs a specific spice or a bag of rice, we usually have it sitting right there on the shelf where it belongs. It’s a simple way to make a living, honestly. People come in after their shifts or before the sun is even up. We just keep the doors open and try to stay organized. It’s a lot of lifting and moving boxes around every single day.
