Bombay Engineers. Our place is a small gala in the Patel Industrial Estate. It’s tucked away on Navpada Road in Jogeshwari West. If you’ve never been here, it can be a little tricky to find the first time because all the units look similar from the outside and the signs are small. Space is tight, so we have to be very organized with our tools and materials so we don't trip over things. There’s always the sound of metal being worked on and the smell of oil in the air. We do engineering work, mostly small parts and repairs that people need done quickly. It’s a noisy neighborhood, but that’s just how industrial estates in Mumbai are. We’ve got a few machines that take up most of the floor, and a tiny desk where the paperwork and the computer live. We don't have fancy titles here. Everybody chips in with whatever needs doing, whether it’s cleaning up or helping with a heavy load at the door. Sometimes we stay late to finish a job for a customer who’s in a real rush. We don’t mind too much, as long as the work is done right. Most of our clients are local shops or other businesses around the city. We’ve seen the area change a lot over the years, but our little gala stays pretty much the same. It’s a bit messy, but it’s our space and we’re proud of the work we do here.
