Bifriends Engineering Works

Bifriends Engineering Works is situated at W-73 in the M.I.D.C. Phase-II area. This is on Manpada Road in Dombivili East. Being in the Thane district, we are right in the middle of a very heavy industrial belt. The shop floor at W-73 is usually where you will find most of us. It’s an older building, and it has that smell of oil and metal that never really goes away. We’ve been operating out of this part of Dombivili for a long time. The traffic on Manpada Road is something we all complain about, but it’s just part of being here. We do a lot of heavy engineering work. It isn't the kind of job where you wear a suit. We are usually covered in grease by noon. There are no big mission statements on the walls, just calendars and maybe a few old photos. We have a small group of guys who have been with us for years. They know the machines better than anyone. We take our tea breaks together near the entrance where there is a bit of a breeze. It’s a straightforward operation. We don’t try to be something we aren't. If a job comes in, we look at it, figure out the cost, and get to work. People in the estate know us as the guys at W-73. We just keep doing what we’ve always done, day in and day out, in this corner of the industrial zone.
