Running a catering business from Krishna Apartment in Goregaon keeps us on our feet. We are right near the Bank of Maharashtra, so the area is always crowded. My wife and I started this because we liked cooking for large groups. It’s a lot of work getting the vegetables fresh from the market every morning. Our kitchen is busy starting at five in the morning. We handle a lot of small parties and some bigger events too. You can usually smell what we’re cooking if you’re walking down the street. We don’t have a big fancy restaurant, just our setup here where we pack everything into containers. Sometimes the delivery guys get stuck in Goregaon traffic, which is a real problem for us. We use a lot of big pots and pans that need constant cleaning. It’s not an easy job and your hands always smell like onions or spices. We hire a few extra people when there’s a big wedding order. Most people find us through word of mouth or by seeing our tempo parked outside. We try to keep things simple and use good ingredients we buy ourselves. The apartment gets a bit cramped when we have five different orders going, but we’ve learned how to move around each other. It’s just a normal family business trying to get the food out on time.
