You can find us at Shop No 1 in Sangam Chawl. It’s a pretty lively area in Jogeshwari West, not too far from the Spice Tower. We mostly handle cooking oils and various grocery items that people need for their kitchens every day. The shop is tucked into the chawl, so it’s a tight space but we make it work for us. Every morning starts with moving the big oil containers and making sure the bags of rice and dal are stacked right on the shelves. It smells like a mix of spices and deep frying because of the nearby food stalls. We get a lot of regulars who just stop by for a minute to pick up what they forgot for dinner. The counter is usually crowded with small change and handwritten shopping lists. New Lin is a busy stretch, and there’s always someone walking past the door looking in. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. We just put the goods out where people can see them and wait for the morning rush to settle down. It’s a simple life, mostly just weighing out portions and chatting with the neighbors about the weather or the price of things. When the sun goes down, we start packing things back in and cleaning the floor. It’s been our way of doing things for years in this part of Jogeshwari West. We like the familiar faces and the busy street outside.
