We are over at Amrapali Industrial Estate on Ram Mandir Road. It’s a busy part of Goregaon West. We’ve got units 27 and 28 here. Most days start early with the sound of machines warming up. It gets pretty loud in the estate once everyone starts their shifts. We’ve been at this spot for a good while now. The floors are usually covered in metal shavings and oil, which is just how an engineering shop looks when it is actually working. People come by asking about parts or repairs. Sometimes the traffic on Ram Mandir Road makes deliveries a bit of a headache, but we manage. We aren’t a fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a workshop where things get made and fixed. There are stacks of raw materials in the corners and the smell of grease is always around. We know the neighbors in the other units well. If we need a specific tool or some help moving something heavy, someone is usually around. Goregaon has changed a lot, but this industrial pocket stays pretty much the same. It’s dusty and hot in the summer, but we keep the fans going and get the jobs done. We just focus on the drawings and the metal in front of us. It’s honest work that keeps us busy from morning until the evening. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we really have to. Most of the time we are just out on the floor.
