About Ambica Engineering Works – Engineering in Surendranagar
Ambica Engineering Works is tucked away in the Suvikash Estate, right in the middle of Phase-3 of the GIDC. If you know the industrial area, you know it’s a lot of grey buildings and the smell of oil and metal. We are at number 18. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when all the trucks are trying to navigate the narrow lanes of the estate. I’ve been working here long enough to know every crack in the floor. We do a lot of heavy lifting, fixing parts, and making sure the machinery is running like it should. It’s loud, and your hands get dirty within ten minutes of showing up, but that’s just how it is. We have a small desk in the corner for the paperwork, but most of the time is spent out on the shop floor. The neighbors in the GIDC are mostly all doing the same kind of stuff, so we help each other out with tools or advice when something breaks down. It’s a community of sorts, even if it looks a bit rough from the outside. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anything like that. People just come in through the main shutters. We keep the machines greased and the work moving. It’s honest labor, and at the end of the shift, we’re tired but it feels okay. We usually close up when the streetlights come on and the traffic in the estate finally dies down for the night.
