You can find us at the Surat Tex Market, specifically in shop 2013 on the second floor. Zharna Knit Fab Private Limited has been operating out of this spot for a bit. It’s right opposite Kamela Darwaja on the Ring Road, which is basically the heart of the whole textile scene in Surat. If you’ve ever been here, you know how crazy the traffic gets. Our shop is usually packed with different kinds of knitted fabrics. We spend a lot of time sorting through rolls and making sure orders are ready for pick up. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy bundles and checking the quality under the shop lights. The building itself is an older co-op society, so it has that classic market feel. We’re not some big corporate office with glass walls. It’s just us, some chairs, a desk, and a lot of fabric. People come in and out all day asking for prices or checking out new patterns. We try to keep things organized, but in a place this busy, there’s always a bit of a mess. That’s just how it goes when you’re dealing with textiles. We talk to the loaders, the rickshaw drivers, and the other shop owners every day. It’s a small community in a way, even though it’s huge. We just focus on our knitting and fabric supplies and try to stay on top of the orders we get.
