We’re up on the eighth floor of the 21st Century Business Centre. If you’ve ever been to Ring Road in Surat, you know it’s a madhouse of activity. It’s the heart of the textile trade here. Our office, number 809, is where we handle the weaving technology side of things. It’s not a huge space, but it’s packed with samples and technical manuals. We spend a lot of time on the computer and on the phone talking to the guys at the mills. We aren't the ones actually running the looms here—this is where the planning happens. The elevators in this building are always slow, so we end up waiting around a lot talking to other people in the trade. It’s a very practical environment. There’s no fancy furniture or art on the walls, just calendars and stacks of folders everywhere. We’ve been doing this for a while and we’ve seen the market go up and down. We don’t use a lot of big words to describe what we do. We just focus on the weaving tech and making sure the specs are right for the clients. It’s busy, it’s often a bit disorganized, but we know where everything is. Uniexcel is just a small team of us working hard right in the middle of Surat’s busiest district, trying to keep up with the trade.
