Silver Telecom

Varachha Road is always loud, and being here at Swad Colony near the Ring Road means we see a lot of people passing by. Silver Telecom has been in this spot for a while. We aren't fancy. The floor is a bit scuffed and the shelves are crowded with phone boxes and accessories. Most days I’m just trying to organize the cables because they always get tangled up. It’s a lot of work keeping track of everything. We have people coming in from the Harni Warasiya area asking about prepaid plans or looking for a used phone. I usually have the radio playing in the background, mostly news or some old songs. The air conditioner is a bit old and makes a rattling noise, but it keeps the heat away. My cousin works the afternoon shift. We share a small desk in the back where we keep our logbooks. It’s messy, but we know where everything is. Sometimes the internet goes down and we just have to wait it out while talking to the neighbors. It’s a tight space when more than four customers come in at once. We do our best to help everyone without making a big fuss. The Ring Road traffic never really stops, so there is always a hum from outside. We just keep our heads down and get the job done. It’s a simple life here, just running a shop and dealing with the everyday crowd.
