Shubhang S Fabrics

Our place, Shubhang S Fabrics, is right in the middle of the World Trade Centre on Ring Road. If you’ve been to Surat, you know how crazy this area gets with all the textile traffic. We are up on the 4001 floor, near Udhna Darwaja. It is always crowded around here, especially in the mornings when the new rolls come in. We spend most of our day surrounded by different types of cloth. There are stacks of fabric everywhere you look, sometimes so high you can't see the other side of the room. It’s not a quiet job. There’s always someone calling out or a cart being pushed down the hallway. We just try to keep things organized so we can find what a customer needs. Some days are long, especially during the wedding season when everyone wants their stuff at the same time. We don't do much fancy talking here. We just show the material and tell the price. It's a bit cramped in the shop with all the stock, but that’s how the market is. Most of our neighbors are doing the same thing. We’ve been in this building for some time now and know most of the guys around. You just get used to the noise and the constant movement of goods. It's a lot of physical work, lifting and measuring, but we like being part of the Ring Road buzz.
