Shree Ramdev Mobile

You’ll find Shree Ramdev Mobile right on the corner of Varachha Road and M G Road 7. It’s a very busy intersection, so there is always a lot of honking and people walking by. Our shop is small, but we cram a lot into it. We have glass cases filled with all kinds of mobile phones and gadgets. I spend most of my time at the back where the soldering iron is kept. Fixing phones is a lot of squinting and steady hands. People are always in a hurry on Varachha Road, so they usually want their repairs done as fast as possible. We do what we can. Sometimes the parts don't arrive on time, and we have to explain that to the customers. We have a small fan that wobbles a bit, but it keeps the air moving. The floor is tile and we sweep it a few times a day to keep the street dirt away. We don't have any corporate training or anything like that. We just learned by doing and by fixing things that were broken. Most of our day is just talking to people and looking at screens. It’s a lively spot to be in. When the evening market starts up, the whole area gets even more crowded. We usually just stick to our work until it’s time to pull the shutter down for the night.
