We have been here in Bhedvad for a while now. The shop is called Sai Mobile World, and you can find it easily if you know the area. The floor is tiled and we try to sweep it twice a day, but people bring in a lot of dirt from the street. There are glass cabinets filled with all sorts of phones, some new and some that people traded in because they wanted something different. We spend hours talking to people about why their battery isn't lasting until the evening. Usually, it’s just because they have too many apps running, but sometimes the hardware is just old. The counter is usually covered with a bit of paper or a cloth so we don't scratch the phones we are working on. We have a small radio that plays in the background, mostly just local news or some music to keep the day moving along. In the rainy season, the dampness gets into everything, so we have to be careful. People from the nearby houses often drop by to get their talk time topped up or to ask about a cheap memory card. It’s a simple setup with a couple of chairs for people to wait. We don’t have fancy decorations, just the stuff we need to get the jobs done. When the power goes out, we have a small backup light so we don't have to stop working. We keep the glass clean so people can see the screens clearly.
