S S Stores is located right in Bhatpore, and we have been here long enough that most of the neighbors know us by name. It is a basic shop where we keep the things people need every day. My brother and I usually open up early in the morning before the sun gets too high because that is when people come by for their morning items. The shelves are packed with all sorts of stuff, from soap to snacks, and sometimes it is hard to find a place for everything. We don't have a computer system or anything fancy, just a notebook where we write things down. Bhatpore is a quiet enough place but we stay busy enough just talking to whoever walks in. Sometimes the delivery trucks are late and we have to wait around, but that gives us time to clean up a bit. The floor is concrete and we sweep it twice a day because of the dust from the road. We don't have a big marketing plan, we just sit here and wait for the regulars to come in. It’s a small space, so you might have to squeeze past someone in the aisle. We try to keep the most popular things near the front so it’s easy to grab. It’s not the biggest store in the world, but it’s ours and we like being part of the area here. Life moves slowly but that's okay with us. We just keep the door open and see who comes by.
