Varachha Road is always a mess with all the construction and the bikes, and our spot near Kim Cross Road 2 is right in the thick of it. My desk is usually covered in tiny screws and bits of broken glass because people are always dropping their phones. It’s a constant struggle to keep track of everything, but I manage okay. I’ve been fixing things since I was a kid, so opening this place seemed like the right move. It’s not a quiet job. You have the sound of the main road outside and the constant pinging of phones being tested. Some days are slow and I just sit here watching the traffic go by, but other days I don’t even have time to eat lunch. People come from all over this side of town because they know I don’t talk nonsense. If a screen is going to take two days to get, I say it’s going to take two days. I don't like overpromising things to folks. The shop has a few old posters on the walls that have started to peel a bit. It’s a working space, not a showroom. Most of my tools are old but they still work fine for what I need to do. I’ve got a small kettle in the back for tea when friends stop by. It’s just a regular local business trying to stay afloat and keep people connected.
