We work out of the Royal Arcade at Sarthana Jakatnaka in Surat. Our office number is 434, so we are up a few floors. Being in Surat means things are always moving fast and there is always something being built somewhere. The area around Sarthana gets really crowded during the day, so getting to the office can be a bit of a chore sometimes. Inside, it’s mostly just us and a lot of paperwork. We do construction work, so we are often out of the office more than we are in it. You might find us at a site more often than at our desks. When we are here, we are usually drinking some chai and trying to figure out the schedule for the next week. It’s a basic setup with some desks and a computer that sometimes acts up when we need it most. We don’t really do fancy stuff here. We just focus on getting the buildings up and making sure the supplies arrive on time. It’s a lot of coordinating with different people and making sure nobody is waiting around. Gujarat is a busy place for this kind of work right now. We’ve lived here a long time so we know the local spots and how the system works. It’s not always easy but it is what we know how to do. Most evenings we are just tired and ready to head home through the Surat traffic.
