Our shop is up on the second floor of Avadh Textile Market, right near the new Bombay market area in Surat. It’s shop 1112 and 1113. If you come by, you’ll see we have a lot of fabric rolls stacked up everywhere. It gets pretty crowded in here sometimes, especially when the new stock arrives from the mills. We’ve been in this spot for a while now. Most days start early with tea and looking over the orders from the day before. It is not a fancy office or anything like that. Just a regular workplace with desks and samples. People walk in and out all day, asking about different textures and colors of cloth. We try to keep things simple. Surat is a busy city for textiles, and being across from the Bombay market means there is always noise and trucks moving outside. We deal with a lot of different people, from local tailors to bigger buyers. Sometimes the power goes out or the elevator is slow, so we just take the stairs. It’s just how things go here. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It is just us working through the piles of fabric and making sure things get sent to the right address on time. Most of our work is just checking quality and counting meters. It’s tiring but it’s what we know. We hope to stay in this market for many more years because the community here is good.
