We are tucked away on Surat Khot Lane, just off JV Road. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze back here, and if you aren't looking for us, you might walk right past. The shop is small, packed with boxes from floor to ceiling. I try to keep some order, but when new shipments come in, things get messy for a while. I handle a lot of different electronics, not just phones, but mobiles are what most people come in for these days. It’s a neighborhood where everyone knows everyone’s business. I spend half my day just chatting with the other shopkeepers or the regulars who live in the apartments upstairs. The air is always a bit dusty because of the old buildings around here. I don’t have a big sign with flashing lights, just a simple board that’s seen better days. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there in the dark waiting for it to come back on. It’s a slow pace compared to the big markets, but I prefer it that way. You get to know people. I’ve seen kids grow up and come back for their own first phones. I don’t use any computer systems for my accounts; I still write everything down in a big ledger book. It’s an old-school way of doing things, but it works for me and my customers. I like the quiet life on this lane.
