DEEPKAMAL POWER LOOM FOUNDATION

Deepkamal Power Loom Foundation is located right in the middle of Puspa Nagar Society in the Puna area of Surat. It is a residential neighborhood but it has that busy, productive energy you only find in this city. Our office is at number twenty-two, and it’s a modest place where we handle the foundation's business. You can usually hear the rhythmic clicking of power looms from the nearby buildings if you listen closely. We spend a lot of our time talking to the local weavers and the people who keep the textile industry running at the ground level. It isn’t about big corporate meetings here. It’s more about sitting down with a cup of chai and discussing how the looms are doing or what the current price of fabric is looking like. The streets around Puna are narrow and usually filled with scooters and small tempos carrying rolls of cloth. It can be a bit chaotic at times, but it’s a good kind of chaos. We’ve been part of this society for a long time, and people know where to find us if they need to talk about the loom work. We don't have any fancy brochures or a big marketing team. We just stay focused on the daily needs of the weaving community here in Surat. It’s a simple life, mostly filled with the hum of the city and the steady work of the looms.
