We are situated behind the Chetna Hotel on M G Road, right near the Athwagate Circle. It is a bit of a tricky spot to find if you are not looking for it, tucked away from the main road noise. I spend my days at a heavy wooden desk that has seen better days. The surface is covered in scratches from years of tools and metal parts. Most people come in because they were eating at the hotel or passing through the circle and remembered their watch was broken. I handle a mix of everything. Some people bring in very cheap plastic watches and others have nice gold ones they inherited. I treat them mostly the same. The shop feels a bit cramped because I keep everything. There are boxes of old movements under the counter that I haven't looked at in a decade. I don't have a fancy uniform or a polished counter. I just wear my regular clothes and get to work. Sometimes the Athwagate traffic is so loud I can hear the horns even inside, but I just focus on the tiny parts in front of me. It is a slow kind of work in a fast part of town. I don't make any big promises. I just look at the watch, tell you what is wrong, and see if I can make it run again.
