At Bhatias Electronics, we’ve been situated at the 15th Cross in the 3rd Block of Jayanagar for a long time. It’s a good spot in Kadodara, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit since we first opened the doors. We mostly deal with the kind of stuff people need for their homes, like televisions, small kitchen appliances, and some of those new gadgets that keep coming out. The shop is pretty full, so you have to be careful not to knock anything over when you’re walking between the rows of fridges and washing machines. We don’t go in for those flashy advertisements you see in the big malls. We just put the prices on the boxes and talk to people when they come in looking for a deal. My brother handles the deliveries with our old truck, and I stay back to manage the floor and answer the phone. It gets a bit dusty on the top shelves, so we spend our slow hours with a cloth trying to keep things looking decent. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to sit out front on the plastic chairs until it comes back on. It’s just a regular local business where we try to keep things simple and honest. We know which brands usually last longer and we tell people that if they ask. There is no mission statement here, just regular work day to day.
